Office Software

Pathfinder Office
GPS2GIS by MapSync
GPS Analyst Extension for ArcMap
GeoSync XG by MapSync

Office software is important largely for two reasons:

  1. It provides a method to post-process your GPS data. Post-processing corrects the GPS data, making it much more accurate and providing useful GPS metadata (quality control information). It “fills in the gaps” left by time periods when a real-time source of correction (like WAAS) was unavailable and usually is more accurate.  (Post-Processing White Paper).
  2. It provides a link between your GPS data and your GIS/CAD format.

Pathfinder Office

Pathfinder Office is the culmination of almost 20 years of Trimble’s experience with office software for Mapping GPS devices. It is extremely feature-rich with the tools needed for GPS data processing and efficient movement of data between your GPS and your GIS/CAD. It is easy to learn and complements Terrasync especially well. It can also be used with ArcPad/GPSCorrect.

  • Differentially correct to improve the quality of your GPS data. Must use compatible GPS receivers.
  • H-Star processing for subfoot accuracy with the GPS Pathfinder ProXH receiver or the GeoXH handheld
  • Import and export data in a variety of GIS formats
  • Create sophisticated custom pick-lists and attribute fields to match your GIS or database
  • Carry out quality control on your data before you transfer it to your GIS/CAD
  • Plan the best time to collect data over the next two weeks
  • Manage multiple coordinate systems
  • Designed to run on a laptop or desktop computer

GPS Analyst

GPS Analyst is an extension to ArcGIS® that allows for the processing and management of GPS data directly in a personal geodatabase. It includes many of the features of Pathfinder Office but in a familiar ArcGIS® environment. Since the data is already in the geodatabase, there is not a need to transfer data to a different format. GPS Analyst requires an install of ArcGIS (v. 8.3 or higher) and is not a standalone software.

  • Optimize your field-to-office workflow
  • Work with GPS data directly in your personal geodatabase
  • Differentially correct to improve GPS accuracy
  • H-Star processing for subfoot accuracy with the GPS Pathfinder ProXH receiver or the GeoXH handheld
  • Store detailed information about the quality of your GPS data
  • Using a pen-tablet or laptop connected to a compatible GPS receiver, collect data in the field directly to you personal geodatabase
  • Extend and customize with ArcObjects
