Data Collector

A data collector can be considered either by itself (standalone) or integrated with GPS. Questions to ask when considering data collectors are:

  1. Will it withstand the rigors of the outdoors (rain, dust, cold, humidity, etc)?
  2. Will it withstand a drop?
  3. Will the screen be visible in direct sunlight?
  4. Will the battery last as long as I will need it to between charges?
  5. Is the processor, RAM, and storage space sufficient for my needs?
  6. Is there a removable storage option?
  7. Is the Operating System current?
  8. Will my data be secure in the event of a power loss?
  9. Do I need a full-text keypad?
