Trimble Announces New 5700 GPS Receiver

Trimble is pleased to announce the launch of the new Trimble 5700 GPS & WAAS/EGNOS Receiver. The new receiver is available as stand alone unit or as part of the GPS Total Station® 5700 and other convenient bundles. All units are available with internal receive only UHF radio.

Key Product Features
The 5700 receiver is a compact, lightweight, extremely rugged new-generation high-performance real-time positioning solution with the following features:

• Magnesium alloy housing for extreme strength and durability combined with minimal weight.
• Weight including 2 internal batteries, internal charger and internal radio = 3.0lb (1.35kg).
• Waterproof for total submersion in water to a depth of 1m (3.3ft) to IPX7 specifications, buoyant.
• Will survive a drop from 1m (3.3ft) onto concrete.
• Internal Battery Charging Circuitry - no need for an external charger.
• Power Consumption 2.5W; 2 internal batteries power receiver and antenna for 10 hours.
• Optional integral Compact Flash data storage – up to 2,500 hours at 30 seconds with 6 satellites average.
• Integral USB port for data transfer in excess of 1 MegaBit per second.
• New Trimble Maxwell-4 custom high performance GPS chip.
• WAAS/EGNOS tracking and real time differential positioning where available.
• Extended RTK (eRTK™) Technology for Wide Area Real Time Kinematic Surveying with a Latency of 0.02 sec (20 milliseconds).
• Receiver can be used on the belt, on a tripod, on a range pole, in a backpack or in a permanent installation.

Delivery Time
The Trimble 5700 GPS & WAAS/EGNOS receiver is scheduled to be available from 15 February 2001. Pricing will be available through normal Trimble sales and distribution channels.
