April 2008

Survey Division - Press Release. WEBSTER GROVES, Mo., April 30th, 2008 - St. Louis, Mo. Seiler Instrument & Mfg. Co. Inc. has been awarded a one year contract with multi year option renewal from the State of Missouri Office of Administration Division of Purchasing and Materials in conjunction with the Missouri Department of Transportation. This contract is for delivery, construction and testing of a Trimble Global Navigation Satellite System Real time Network of CORS (Continuously operating Reference Stations). The coverage area will initially include the five Missouri counties under MoDOT District 6 or the Greater Metro Saint Louis area including; Saint Louis City and County, Franklin, Jefferson and Saint Charles County. Per Tom Seiler, Vice President of Seiler Instrument, "Seiler is pleased to implement and deliver the software and infrastructure necessary to support this network along with plans for future statewide deployment across the state."

"The Missouri Department of Transportation has been working on this implementation plan for about two years", says George Kopp, Computer Aided Drafting and Design Services Engineer for MoDOT. "This system will be utilized by MoDOT's staff in the areas of Design, Construction and Transportation Management along with contractors, other government agencies and MoDOT's partners to streamline their processes. The contract also has very rigid technical requirements and we are quite pleased to be able to work with a supplier like Seiler Instrument, who has a great level of experience in implementing productive systems with the best value and technology."

Survey Division:
Harvey Wright – Design Solutions Executive – St. Louis Office. Harvey brings to Seiler over fifteen years of diverse sales experience.  Harvey will focus on providing architectural, engineering and construction solutions to our Building, Construction and Engineering clients in Missouri and Illinois with Autodesk® Solutions.  Harvey graduated from University of Missouri and majored in Political Science. Harvey has held long term positions with Safety Kleen, Curtis 100 and Pitney Bowes.  He also enjoys cycling, hiking and basically any outdoor activity.  Harvey has a lovely wife and two young daughters and is excited to be a part of the Seiler team.  Please give Harvey a  call or email anytime.

Survey Division:
Scott Smith - Mapping Sales Representative – Kansas City Office. Seiler welcomes Scott Smith to our mapping staff. Scott has over twenty years of experience in the GIS/Mapping field including twelve years experience recently as the GIS Manager of Lenexa, Kansas. Scott will focus initially on government and utilities sales assisting clients with their GPS and technical sales needs. Scott’s GIS environment background will provide the valuable knowledge to our customers on “what to do and how to do” with all their data information collected. Scott is a Southwest Missouri State graduate and has a lovely wife and three teens who all keep him busy. When Scott does get free time he enjoys coaching youth sports and amateur photography. Manufacturing Division:
John R. Holmes - Vice President of Operations - St. Louis. Seiler Instrument and Manufacturing announced that John R. Holmes has joined the company as Vice President of Operations. Holmes brings more than 26 years of experience, knowledge, and achievement in the area of manufacturing operations to Seiler.

Holmes comes to Seiler from DRS Sustainment Systems, where he was also Vice President of Operations. At DRS, Holmes was responsible for direct day-to-day operations for a multi-site, $700 million manufacturing division of heavy equipment and environmental, biological, power generation, air handling, and radar systems.

Prior to his position at DRS, Holmes was Senior Director of Supplier Management & Procurement for Science Applications International Corporation where he directly managed over $2 billion in major subcontracts for the Army Future Combat Systems program.

“We are excited to have someone of John’s caliber on our team,” said Executive Vice President Rick Seiler. “The manufacturing operations expertise he brings to our company will allow us to provide an even higher level of service to our customers. John’s hiring further enhances our commitment to ensuring on time delivery, enhancing our lean manufacturing capabilities, and providing the best quality product possible to meet the demands of our Soldiers and Marines.”

In this newly created capacity at Seiler, Holmes will oversee all operations of the company’s manufacturing division, which includes its machining, assembling, testing, quality assurance, and repair services.

“Throughout my years in the manufacturing industry I have always been aware of Seiler’s exemplary reputation for service to the U.S. military and its other customers,” said Holmes. “Joining this company is a wonderful opportunity for me, and I look forward to adding value to its operations.”

John Holmes is a St. Louis native and a graduate of Maryville University.

Jeff Story – CAD Design Solutions Executive - Wisconsin and Chicago Office.  Jeff is a welcome addition to our Seiler CAD Design Solution Staff. Jeff brings to Seiler over sixteen years of sales experience in the Building and Infrastructure market. His valued experience will provide all our clients with the best Autodesk Design Solutions available. Jeff is a University of Wisconsin graduate and has two lovely daughters. Rick Severn - CAD Division Manager - St. Louis Office. Rick brings to Seiler Instrument over 14 years of sales experience and sales and marketing management in the CAD Industry. Additionally, his work experience with clients in the Architectural, Engineering, Construction, Survey, Manufacturing, Government and Academic markets brings a familiarity to all our Seiler clientele. Rick has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin in Marketing. Rick enjoys his family time with his wife and two sons, but in his spare time also likes to play golf and work on/ride his motorcycles. Survey Division:
Matt Davis – Application Specialist/Autodesk Training Support – St. Louis Office. Matt is a valued addition to Seiler’s CAD Team with over five years experience in Land, Transportation, and Architectural as a Engineering Application Technician. His work background was most recently with Olsson Associates as   Senior Technician, Land Development Department and  prior to this with Black & Veatch for over three years in Overland Park, Kansas. Matt goes hunting and fishing in his spare time and would like to swap some tall fish tales with our clients to show them how they can perform faster, smarter, and better with Autodesk® software products and training. Douglas Anderson – Mapping Technical Support – Indianapolis Office.   Doug  brings to the Seiler team several years of experience managing utility right-of-way projects .  Prior to this, Doug was involved with GPS data collection projects with Purdue University and the U. S. Forest Service.  Doug has extensive experience with ESRI products, including ArcPad and will provide software and hardware technical support and training  for all our mapping customers.  Doug holds a B.S. degree in Forestry from Purdue University.  Doug’s personal interests include riding motorcycles and work on his property out in the beautiful Indiana farmland.  Please give  Doug a call or email anytime.

Robert “Bob” Kilburn – Survey Technical Support – Wisconsin Office. Bob brings thirteen years of technical experience to all our Wisconsin clients with Trimble GPS and Robotic Technical Support. Bob’s experience covers 13 years of field related survey experience; 6 years of survey experience in the military (USAF and USMC) and 6 years of survey experience in private industry. James E. Nelson – Survey Sales – Wisconsin Office.  Jim is a valued addition to our Wisconsin Office and brings to our customers over 20 years experience in Surveying Sales from Scientific Instruments.  Additionally, his 12 years as a Land Surveyor and Instructor/Teacher at the local technical colleges in Racine and Green Bay provide the expertise and professionalism our clients appreciate.  Jim has an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering/Land Surveying and is ready to take on the task of earning our clients business.   We are pleased to have Jim join our Survey Sales Team.  You can call or email Jim anytime.

Jamie Glazewski – Customer Service / Service Technician – Wisconsin Office.  Jamie provides all our clientele in the Wisconsin area full technical support, repairs and in general the “go to guy” for all their service questions or sales support needs. Jay Riester – Mapping Technical Support – St. Louis Office.  Jay provides our Mapping clientele throughout the Midwest full technical support on all their mapping hardware and software needs.   Jay has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin in Geography and GIS.  His experience in GPS/GIS data collection spans over ten years, working with various clients including the Department of Transportation, Airports, Railroads, and Utility firms.  Jay is also an avid outdoor enthusiast and likes to camp, hike, and landscape.  Jay is a welcome addition to our Mapping Team.  Please give Jay a call or email anytime.

Eugenia Stone - Application Specialist - Autodesk Training and Support - St. Louis Office. Eugenia came on board full time with Seiler this fall of 2007, but originally started with us part time in April of 2006. Eugenia is a valued addition to our Autodesk® Support team and provides all our clients a detailed training program. Eugenia has a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism along with a Masters in Internal Relations. She loves to play piano, swim, and salsa dance. Britt Gill - Mapping Sales – Indianapolis Office. Britt has an honored military back ground for the past eleven years with the United States Army. Britt was stationed in the 82nd Airborne Division and served our country in Iraq and Afghanistan. Britt’s hands on experience with Mapping Products include; map reading, drawing to scale, and navigating with GPS for mapping. Denise Dort – Administrative Assistant – Franklin Wisconsin Office. Denise started with Seiler Instrument Company in July of 2005, and brought with her twenty three years of valuable administration experience. Prior to joining Seiler, Denise worked for five years with a firm called Earth Tech located in Milwaukee Wisconsin and has worked directly with civil design engineers for most of her career. Denise is definitely the point person to contact for all your initial questions and is a valued asset for Seiler and all our Wisconsin and surrounding area clients. Survey Division:
Seiler Instrument Company was called in for a project at Whistling Straits golf course.  We provided detailed mapping of the course (data in customer's hands) in the same day they called.

Corporate Division:
Seiler Instrument Company completed its ISO 9001:2000 Certification process in August 2003. The global certification includes all four divisions of the company. Seiler Instrument is a prime supplier manufacturer of military Fire Control Systems and mechanical-optical equipment. Seiler Instrument Company has been in business for over 50 years and initiated the program with Missouri Enterprise, a industrial consulting firm.

The installation was just completed at Emory University in Atlanta of a Zeiss ZKP3 Skymaster planetarium projector. Also, an order came from Brigham Young University in Provo Utah, for a Zeiss ZKP3 Skymaster. All-Skies and panoramas are now available through Seiler Instruments
Planetarium Department.

Planetarium Division:
It is with great pleasure that Seiler Instrument & Mfg. Co., appoints Laura Misajet to the position of Sales Manager of Seiler / Zeiss Planetarium Sales in the U.S. and Canada.

Laura brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of planetariums which includes the production and presentation of live and programmed planetarium shows. Upon our recent trip to Zeiss Jena, Laura exhibited a considerable knowledge of astronomy, a subject which she taught while at the FELS Planetarium in Philadelphia.

Her knowledge of astronomy will certainly help her with planetarium consulting to our customers. Laura feels, as did Pearl Reilly, that our major role is to supply the very finest service and equipment to our customers. The team of Zeiss and Seiler assures our customer of this commitment.

Seiler Instrument Co. has been very fortunate to have had a wonderful representative in Pearl Reilly for the past number of years and we wish her all the happiness in her retirement. Laura, in many ways, has the same values as Pearl and will carry on in much of the same manner. Our entire staff here at Seiler will back Laura on her challenges to serve you in future sales.
