Getting the Most out of Trimble Geomatics Office (TGO) |
1 day class - $250/person -

Audience: Clients using TGO for Survey Applications- Conventional and GPS
This is a general course that
includes lecture and hands on computer work and overviews the functionality
of Trimble Geomatics Office Software. The course will focus on TGO v1.6. The
course work covers: setting up a TGO project and project templates, getting
around in TGO - review of all TGO windows, icons, plan view options and
survey view options using the selection tools, layers, selection sets and
other basic TGO functions, manually entering data and importing data from
Trimble, SDR, Geodimeter and other formats, downloading data collectors like
the TSC1, TSCe, TSC2, SDR33, and Geodimeter faceplates, reviewing field
work, data analysis and how to correct any problems, printing site
calibration reports for GPS jobs, designing custom reports, custom imports,
and exporting to third party formats. We may also cover TGO utilities like
Feature and Attribute Editor, DC File Editor, and Coordinate System Manager
time permitting.

RoadLink Utility in Trimble Geomatics Office |

Audience: Clients using TGO RoadLink- Conventional and GPS
This is a general course that
includes lecture and hands on computer work that details the functionality
of the TGO Tool – RoadLink. Opening with a discussion of the road
information needed by RoadLink: horizontal alignments, vertical profiles,
templates (typicals), and super elevations. Topics covered throughout the
day will be: manually typing a road data directly into TSC2, ACU, TCU, TSCe,
or TSC1 data collectors from paper documents, manually typing road data into
TGO, automated importing of road data into RoadLink, building and use of
templates and supers, export of completed roads for cut sheet printing of
spreadsheets and uploading one or more roads to the data collectors. Course
will also include discussion of using these roads in the field and will
include a review of existing TGO reporting tools for downloading and
generating as staked positions, building custom reports, and other topics.
Field session may occur time permitting.

Trimble GPS Mapping for GIS with Windows CE TerraSync |

Audience: Clients with GeoXH, GeoXT, GeoXM, Juno or ProXRT, ProXH, ProXT, ProXRS, and ProXR with
Recon, TSCe, Nomad. or TSC2 data collectors running TerraSync and using Pathfinder
Office Software
This is a formal certified Trimble class that includes training manuals,
lecture, field, and hands on computer work. The course material covers: GPS
fundamentals, GPS accuracy, coordinate systems, building a data dictionary,
mission planning, configure the TerraSync options, data collection setup,
TerraSync screens, finding and loading background images and CAD drawings. Field
session includes data collection, data update, segmenting, offsetting, measuring
a vertex, filtering, navigating, etc. Back in the classroom, we cover creating a
Pathfinder Office project, downloading field data, displaying and editing data,
differential correction, and finally, exporting the data to a GIS. Discussion of
carrier phase and H-Star processing will also be covered as well as hardware
options and Windows operating system setting, etc. The course will focus on the
current TerraSync version and Pathfinder, but users with older versions are
welcome. TerraSync and Pathfinder Office Software, and CE operating system
upgrades are available for purchase prior to course.

This is a formal certified Trimble class that includes training manuals,
lecture, field, and hands on computer work. The course work covers: GPS
fundamentals, GPS accuracy, coordinate systems, building a data dictionary,
mission planning, configure the asset surveyor options, data collection setup,
and asset surveyor screens. Field session includes data collection, data update,

This is a general course
covering the basics of RTK GPS Surveying and includes lecture, field, and
hands on computer work. This course is designed for the beginning user or
for users that need a refresher course. Topics to be covered include basic
setup of a Trimble Geomatics Office project, GPS equipment configuration and
setup, configuring the survey styles in TSC1, TSCe, ACU, TCU or TSC2, review
of survey controller software functionality for GPS, use of the planning
software, discussion of coordinate systems, field exercises with RTK data
collection and stakeout, downloading of data, and finally basic data
analysis, editing, and export.

Audience: Clients with experience using Survey Controller and TGO - GPS
This is an open format course
covering advanced topics of RTK GPS surveying. This course is designed for
intermediate to advanced users and topics covered will vary due to student
personal requests but may include: Use of existing base station and VRS
discussion, cellular RTK, building custom import formats in TGO, RTK with
INFILL also known as post-processing for low radio range areas, use of
offsets/intersects and other COGO functions, rotate, translate, and scale,
feature and attribute tables for layers and line connectivity, basic
RoadLink use, building custom staking and other types of report, building
custom export formats, using your GPS as a DGPS or WAAS receiver for mapping
jobs or navigation.

Trimble RTK Certified Class |

Audience: Clients using RTK GPS
This is a formal certified
Trimble class that includes training manuals, lecture, field, and hands on
computer work. The course work covers: How GPS works, GPS system components,
configuring your system properly, detailed review of survey style setups and
other data collector settings, complete review of the Survey Controller
Software functionality, introduction to Trimble Geomatics Office (TGO), Data
Transfer Utility and Planning Software, discussion of RTK GPS surveying
procedures for quality GPS site calibrations and the use of coordinate
systems in TGO and inside the TSC1, TSCe or TSC2, how to save calibrated
sites for future use and building and using a feature and attribute library.
Field session will include equipment assembly and setup; Base, Base Radio,
Rover, and Rover Radio. Use of existing base stations and VRS will also be
discussed. Cellular RTK class will perform a site calibration as well as use
published county coordinate parameters, discuss and practice topographic
survey procedures, cogo, offsetting, and stakeout. Finally, we will cover
downloading, data analysis in TGO, reporting, exporting, and post-processing
as needed.

Survey Controller

Audience: Clients with Survey Controller
This is a general course that
includes lecture, field session, and hands on collector work. The focus will
be on Survey Controller with the current version running on TSCe, ACU, TCU, or the new TSC2.
Users with older versions of Survey Controller and TSC1 data collectors with
Survey Controller will also benefit from this course. Topics will include
setting up a survey style and setting up the job properties, coordinate
system, and units like azimuths vs. bearings, the use of linked or master
control files and background files for the map screen, building and using
feature code libraries, and the importance of cogo settings. Learn more
about the file functions like: Points Manager, QC Graph, and Custom XML
imports and exports. Use the interactive map with backgrounds to its full
potential. Use survey functions like: Continuous topo, staking points, lines
or roads, duplicate points, the many cogo options and in field point
averaging. Key in points by coordinates or by station and offset. Key in a
never ending line for easy easement or right-of-way stakeout. Discuss site
calibrations and grid vs. ground vs. local vs. WGS84 will be discussed.
Making Bluetooth work, sharing data between collectors in the field.
Intergraded surveying - one data collector for conventional and GPS.
Conventional: Station setups in 2D and 3D, single station backsight,
multiple backsights or using resection (free station) for safer
observations, use the different measurement methods to measure remote or
circular objects, measure rounds or sets, find gaps in point numbering,
check any point or your backsight with one easy button, and use of station
elevation to establish an occupied station elevation from a nearby benchmark
as you pass it perform surface scanning. Rotate, translate, and scale data
to match field conditions.
